Teaching

Animation Class

Before receiving my credential in teaching, I taught an animation elective at Grant Middle School in Redding, California, from 2019 to 2020.  With a tablet app, the kids use the principles of animation to create animations of their own.  Then using those new skills the students work to develop a short film together and function as a studio.  It is a great chance for the kids to learn teamwork, work on a schedule, they came up with their scenes, I storyboarded,  then they animated with my help, learning how to tell a story and use creative problem solving.  I finished a few scenes myself due to an early release year because of Covid. I really enjoyed this process though. It was really exciting to work with them!

I always have fun teaching my summer drawing camp. Some years I focus just on drawing and other years I've included painting, 3D sculpture and clay. On this particular year (seen below) we dressed up in silly costumes for our figure drawing day and had the privledge to draw a sweet german shepherd from life. I always look forward to camp!
